Daniel Raim Biography/Filmography

Daniel RaimWriter-Director Daniel Raim was born in Israel in 1974, and was raised in the United States, France and Israel. Raim developed a passion for filmmaking and in 1997 attended the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, where he studied under one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most esteemed collaborators, production designer Robert F. Boyle. In 2001, Raim was nominated for an Academy Award® for his documentary film THE MAN ON LINCOLN’S NOSE. His most recent film, SOMETHING’S GONNA LIVE, world premiered at the 2009 AFI FEST in Los Angeles to glowing reviews.

Daniel Raim
Director / Producer / Writer / Cinematographer / Editor

Daniel Raim is an Academy Award®-nominated documentary filmmaker who attended the American Film Institute in Los Angeles in 1997. He earned an American Express Foundation Cultural Heritage Award in 1998, which he used to produce and direct his first film. In 2001, Daniel was nominated for the Best Documentary Short Subject Academy Award® for his film The Man on Lincoln's Nose.

 
Jennifer Raim
Producer / Editor

Jennifer is a member of the Dolby Laboratories team in Burbank, California.  She has a B.S. in Biology and a J.D. in Law. This is her first documentary feature.

 
Haskell Wexler
Cinematographer

In addition to starring in our documentary as one of the Featured Artists, Haskell  Wexer also filmed a good deal of its footage. Over a 48-year career, Haskell has won two Best Cinematography Oscars® for his work on "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "Bound for Glory." It is an honor to highlight Haskell's cinematography in our film.

 
Gerald Chamales
Producer

Gerald “Jerry” Chamales, founded Rhinotek Computer Products in his Venice, California studio apartment in 1979. Jerry was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for business service, and Rhinotek was named to Industry Week Magazine’s list of the Top 25 U.S. Manufacturers. Jerry has helped hundred of recovering alcoholics and drug addicts rebuild their lives. His efforts have been profiled on CNBC, ABC, NBC Nightly News and the O’Reilly Factor. His work has also been profiled by Time Magazine, Success Magazine, Business Week, Fortune magazine and the front page of the Wall Street Journal.

 
Tommy G. Warren
Executive Producer

Tommy has been involved in the motion picture and media worlds for over 30 years.  Tommy was recruited to work on the MGM feature "Red Corner" and later moved to Paramount Studios where he held an office for several years.  More recently, Tommy established Spiderwood Studios, a state-of-the-art, full service motion picture, music, and animation production facility with a 200-acre back lot located near Austin, Texas.  In addition to producing, he has written the original screenplays, "Flight of Magic", "The Night After Christmas", "The Orphan", "Hippy Binemy", and more.  Tommy was honored at the National Press Club and awarded "The Exceptional Merit in Media Award" (EMMA) for the feature film "The Inner Circle".

 
Guido Verweyen
Cinematographer

Born in the US and raised in Germany, Guido Verweyen started his film career as a cameraman for German Television, documenting events like the conflict in Yugoslavia. He was then awarded two scholarships from the German Government to study at the American Film Institute. Upon graduation, Guido worked as Director of Photography on many commercials, music videos, and features, including the Academy Award-nominated documentary The Man on Lincoln's Nose.

 
Assaf Rinde
Composer

Assaf Rinde is part of the new wave of young Hollywood film composers who combine technological brilliance with a gift for storytelling and a deep understanding of the human heart and soul. He has scored over twenty films and was involved as a contributor on the biggest Hollywood projects such as the ABC hit TV show LOST, Sony Picture's Ghost Rider and lately Spiderman 3. He is composing music on a regular basis for the WB – Telepictures Productions. Rinde has started his career at his native Israel where he worked with virtually all of the most prestigious musical organizations, and was working also for The Prague State Opera and The Tallinn Philharmonic Orchestra.

 
Devin Golub
Sound Recordist

Throughout his ten-year career in sound mixing and recording, Devin has captured the sound for a number of documentaries, including two Emmy® Award-winning PBS programs and the location sound for Daniel Raim's Oscar®-nominated "The Man on Lincoln's Nose." Devin now works in broadcast television on a number of different programs.

 
Graeme Nattress
Digital Restoration

Graeme is an internationally renowned video software engineer who has lectured across the globe about graphics software applications and Final Cut Pro. In 2004, Graeme founded Nattress Productions Inc., a company dedicated to providing innovative software for video editors. The company is currently focused on researching algorithms for improvements in video quality.

 
Olivier Guillaume
Co-sound Editor

During his studies of acoustics and signal processing in Paris, Olivier realized that he was most of all interested in the interactions between sound and image. In 2007, he went to ENS Louis Lumière (the National Film, Photography & Sound Engineering School), which enabled him to work on the sound of many documentaries and feature films.

 
Etienne Hendrickx
Co-sound Editor

After having studied Physics for two years in Paris, Etienne went to ENS Louis Lumière (the National Film, Photography & Sound Engineering School) in 2007 to become a sound engineer. He has participated in the recording and mixing of several documentary films and radio documentaries, and has also worked on some reportages for the French Ministry of Defense.  Etienne has a vivid interest in acoustics, studying alternative methods to measure the way a mixing room sounds.
